Formed from fragmental debris during the Late Heavy Bombardment period. Lunaites originated from the lunar highlands and are anorthositic breccias, meaning they are made up from a composition of other rock fragments held together by shock compaction that were partially or totally molten. Once ejected from the moon they would have been captured in the gravitational field of either the Earth or the Sun and would orbit these bodies over a period of a few years to tens of thousands of years before falling to Earth.
What does it mean to hold this rock in the palm of one’s hand? It is a billion questions and a billion answers leading to another billion questions.
