Originally wrapped around a now forgotten gift. Kept for reasons of frugality. Stored
in a draw, and occasionally brought out for decoration. To wrap around a house
plant. A bow around a stuffed toy’s neck. Woven between bottlenecks.
In the hand it slips and slides, not wanting to stay still. It will tangle if it must, though
it prefers to sit in curls. Unalive it wishes to move, uneasy even when tied in place.
What will it decorate next? A cake, a flower decoration, a table? Perhaps it will be
made into a rosette and pinned on a jacket.
